Product Description

Solvent-based bonding agent designed for environmentally friendly adhesion between rubber and various substrates including metal and steel.

Surface Preparation

Thoroughly clean metal surface to remove oil, grease, and dirt
Grit blast surface to achieve roughness greater than 15 µm
Use aluminum oxide abrasive for aluminum surfaces
Clean substrate again to remove blasting residue
Apply specified surface treatments (phosphatizing, galvanizing, etc.) if required

Application Methods

Agitation: Stir Thinkbond 942 before application to prevent settling.

Brushing: Apply undiluted for small areas; dilute with MEK for large surfaces.

Spraying: Use HVLP gun with 1.5 Bar pressure and 1-1.5mm nozzle; dilute 50-100% v/v.

Roller Coating: Dilute to 35-45 seconds on DIN 4 or Ford 4 cup at 25°C.

Drying & Curing

Dry film for 10-30 minutes at room temperature. For faster drying, use forced air at maximum 100°C for 5 minutes. Avoid temperatures above 100°C to prevent pre-cure.

Colorless film application
Recommended thickness: 15-25 µm
Use ≥25 microns for severe environments or dynamic fatigue applications
Pre-applied parts can be stored for 30 days prior to cure

Storage Conditions

Keep container tightly closed and away from heat sources. Storage below 10°C extends shelf life.
