Product Description

THINKBOND Hot Vulcanization Adhesive is specially formulated for automotive engine seals, offering superior bonding performance between special rubber and various metal/non-metal substrates.

Superior resistance to solubility, high and low temperatures
High peel strength with long-term salt spray corrosion resistance
Boiling water cooking resistance

Surface Preparation

Thoroughly clean metal surfaces to remove oil, grease, and dirt
Grit blast surface to achieve roughness >15 µm (aluminum oxide recommended for aluminum surfaces)
Clean substrate again to remove blasting residue
Optional pre-treatments: phosphatizing, galvanizing, chromate conversion, or KTL

Application Methods

Brushing

Apply undiluted for small areas. For large areas, dilute with MEK for improved flow.

Spraying

Use HVLP gun with 1.5 Bar air pressure and 1-1.5mm nozzle. Dilute 50-100% v/v.

Roller Coating

Dilute to 35-45 seconds on DIN 4 or Ford 4 cup at 25°C. High boiling solvents may be needed.

Drying & Curing

Dry film for 10-30 minutes at room temperature
For faster drying: 5 minutes at ≤100°C with forced air
Optimal film thickness: 15-25 µm (≥25 µm for severe environments)
Pre-applied parts can be stored for 30 days before curing

Storage

Keep container tightly closed, away from heat sources. Storage below 10°C extends shelf life.
